The History of Angola
OUR HERITAGE
The Back to Angola Festival is the premier Bahamian American cultural festival in Florida commemorating the escape of Black Seminoles in the early 1800s from the maroon community of Angola to The Bahamas.
OUR HISTORY
Join us for this powerful historical and cultural gathering celebrating over 200 years of shared heritage between the USA & The Bahamas. We come together to commemorate the Angola Maroon Community that thrived along the Manatee River from 1812–1821. Their legacy lives on in Red Bays, Andros Island in The Bahamas and in us, their descendants.
